Job Overview

Allied Maker — the American design and manufacturing company behind architectural lighting — is hiring a Graphic Designer for Brand & Communications to work closely with its creative leadership. You will help shape and execute the company's visual language across brand identity, editorial print, digital, packaging, and environmental graphics, from highly conceptual projects to fast-turnaround production work. This is an on-site role in Glen Cove, New York, open to exceptional early-career designers and recent graduates of rigorous art and design programs; the portfolio is the most important part of the application. The employer lists an annual salary range of $75,000–$85,000 and is hiring immediately. The original posting date is October 8, 2026.

About the Role

Allied Maker sits at the intersection of design, architecture, craft, material, and culture, and this role is for a designer who can communicate at that same level. It is not a role for someone who simply knows design software — the company is explicitly looking for taste, judgment, and restraint. The visual world is architectural, intelligent, refined, material, modern, and enduring, grounded in Swiss and modernist typography rather than trend-driven graphics. You will move between conceptual brand work and everyday design production, sometimes in the same week.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and execute Allied Maker's visual language across brand identity and visual systems
  • Design catalogs, lookbooks, brochures, and other editorial pieces
  • Support product launches and collection presentations
  • Create website and digital design, plus social and campaign creative
  • Produce invitations, event, exhibition, and special-project materials
  • Design sales presentations and client-facing materials
  • Develop packaging and printed collateral, plus showroom, factory, and environmental graphics
  • Handle image layouts, typography, retouching, and art direction support

Requirements

  • A portfolio demonstrating sophisticated typography, grids, hierarchy, proportion, composition, and visual systems
  • Exceptional typography and a strong sensitivity to spacing, hierarchy, and composition
  • Fluency in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Ability to take strong creative direction and elevate it through execution
  • Comfort generating multiple intelligent design solutions quickly without becoming careless
  • Extreme attention to detail, including production-ready files for printers, fabricators, and vendors
  • Interest in architecture, interiors, furniture, fashion, art, publishing, or industrial design
  • Collaborative, curious, self-directed, and low-ego working style

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Figma, motion, photography, video, rendering, or web design
  • Recent graduates and alumni of rigorous art and design programs are strongly encouraged to apply

Compensation

The employer lists an annual salary range of $75,000 – $85,000 USD. Applicants are asked to state whether they are seeking freelance, contract-to-hire, or full-time work, along with their compensation expectations.
